Re:O are back with their brand new single Ronin. With their dark and infectious blend of metal and dark pop, this track is ready to set the world ablaze.
Ronin is the 5th single to be released by Re:O. A high energy, blood pumping and aggressive anthem that combines metal with a fresh blend of J-Pop and dark pop tones. Symphonic ambience and dissonance creates a surreal and ambitious soundscape that will captivate any fan of metal, metalcore, and nu metal to post hardcore and rock, leaving them wanting more!

The lyrics of Ronin describe being betrayed by those closest to you and forging your new path with revitalised meaning, and proving those who betrayed your trust wrong.
Ronin explores the crippling self doubt and self immolation that afflicts us after being betrayed by those we trust and look up to. It then explores the exhilarating emotions of self-discovery, finding a sense of belonging and confidence. This story is captivated using the imagery of a masterless samurai, The Ronin.
This emotional journey is captivated utilising a mixture of Japanese and English spoken lyrics, aggressive catchy guitar riffs with eccentric illustrious synth melodies and dissonance combined with the instantly recognisable, beautiful, and flowing vocal melodies of Rio Suyama to create a metal anthem that perfectly emulates the feeling of being lost within yourself and then the journey of self discovery and awakening.
Senpai Review
Ronin’s fusion of metal and dark pop fits perfectly together, with the opening synth and guitar taking you back to the 90s electro goth scene.
The angry guitars were an unexpected surprise from what we know of Re:O musically, but they don’t overshadow Rio’s vocals. Instead, they compliment one another; light and dark, soft and hard.
As the verse builds, it leads to a catchy chorus that has a nostalgic sound. It takes me back to those hot nights in small, dark goth clubs that some of us are familiar with, but with a freshness in the vocals that make your senses prick up and take notice.
I’ve definitely enjoyed this new, heavier sound from Re:O. The blend of harsh and clean works brilliantly, especially when you know the background to the lyrics.
With such a promising new release, we can’t wait to hear what is to come from Re:O in the future.
