It’s time to gear up and get ready for a show to remember, because singer-songwriter ANLY is heading to the UK and Europe for 3 exclusive live performances this November.
Hot off the release of her 5th album, ’26ml’, the Okinawan native is bringing her live show overseas on the ‘Loop Around the World Tour’ to London, Glasgow and Dusseldorf, where she will bring her live loop-pedal performance to the stage.

Growing up on the north coast of Ie Island, ANLY spent her youth listening to the CDs that her father had bought from mainland Okinawa, made up of mostly 60ʼs and 70ʼs rock music, and also enjoyed music played on FEN radio (Far East Network by US military).
In November 2015, ANLY debuted with Sony Music Records. Her first single CD included a song in collaboration with Gabrielle Aplin (recorded in London), with her debut single hitting No. 3 on the Rock chart in Japan. She went on to win the “SUPERNOVA AWARD” in 2018 at the “HONG KONG ASIA MUSIC FESTIVAL” in Hong Kong.
ANLY made a huge breakthrough in 2017 when she sang the opening theme “KARANOKOKORO” for NARUTO 20, the last theme song for the anime epic. ANLY went on to record the themes for “Beautiful” for anime “Seven Deadly Sins” in 2018, “Tranquility” for the movie “Die Neue These (宇宙英雄伝説)” in 2019, “Star Wink” for movie ”Natsumeʼs Book of Friends” in 2021, and also “VOLTAGE” for anime “Boruto Next Generations” in 2022.
Performing internationally since then, this is the first time ANLY will perform in the UK. With her first appearance at the O2 Academy2 Islington in London, this performance will be followed by a night at The Garage in Glasgow. With a wide array of music under her belt, ANLY’s fans are sure to be blessed with an incredible performance.
Amidst her very busy schedule, ANLY joined Beyond Senpai for an exclusive interview ahead of her upcoming shows.
Welcome to the UK! How does it feel to be performing in Glasgow and London?
ANLY: London is one of my favourite places. I still have a lot of unforgettable memories from my first visit to London 8 years ago. One of them is the recording session with Gabrielle Aplin.
I think London’s music scene always offers the most cutting-edge, coolest music in the world, and I greatly respect it.
This will be my first visit to Glasgow and my first live performance in London and Glasgow respectively, and I am very excited to meet new fans in both places.
How did you end up providing music for anime? And hat is the process in your writing music for anime?
ANLY: Anime is very popular in Japan, and I grew up watching many different series. I first auditioned for the chance to sing the NARUTO opening theme song, and “KARANOKOKORO” was chosen from it. Since then, I have had many chances to sing theme songs for anime. NARUTO opened the door for me.
When I write music for an anime, I read all the comics and watch previous TV episodes. I also get into the anime’s main characters and imagine how they feel. I also think about the anime’s atmosphere and how to synergize it with the music.
Alongside your 11th major single, you have also released your fifth studio album. Congratulations! Have you enjoyed being able to promote both releases together these past few months?
ANLY: I have been busy appearing on radio and TV shows for the last few months. Also, the nationwide album tour started at the same time as the album release. It is nice to see the old and new fans face-to-face at the shows. It is also lovely to see the fans face-to-face during autograph sessions for a change since we have been unable to do it for the last few years due to the COVID situation.

Your 11th single, Suki ni Shinayo, is the ending theme for Dr.STONE: New World Part 2. What were your thoughts when you were given the news that your song would be used for the anime’s ending?
ANLY: It was really exciting when they chose “Suki ni Shinayo” for the ending theme song for Dr. STONE since I love the anime. The song is about a person traveling on a ship, and it matches the anime’s theme better than I ever expected. I have always loved Irish music, and I have put the essence of Irish music into the arrangement of this song.
You perform at plenty of conventions, but how does it feel to be playing your solo shows for lots of new fans?
ANLY: Fans at overseas conventions are usually more energetic than Japanese fans, even though the lyrics are mainly Japanese. I hope the new fans I will meet at my solo shows will have a lot of fun with me.
Please tell us who inspires you to make music.
ANLY: I grew up listening to such musicians as Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, and CCR, which had many influences on my music.
Nowadays, I listen to the UK Hit Chart which includes the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and other favourite artists, and I get inspired by them. Also, going to concerts inspires me.
What are you most looking forward to whilst visiting Scotland and England?
ANLY: In Glasgow, I look forward to visiting the record shop I always wanted to visit and seeing the beautiful scenery.
This is going to be my second visit to London. I love the landscape of London, and I would like to walk around the city.
And finally, do you have a message for your fans, and to the new ones you will make on tour?
ANLY: Finally, I am excited to be able to perform in front of UK fans. Many of you will probably see me perform using Loop Pedal for the first time, but I hope we can have lots of fun together.
Beyond Senpai thanks ANLY for joining us in this interview with special thanks to Jack Notman for arranging.
