With the dawn of a new member on the horizon, it only feels right that Mana Manomu has taken a step forward as the newly appointed leader of Satanic Punish.
With the new era of Satanic Punish set to begin on May 25th this month, Mana Manomu, who has been the sole driving force behind Satanic Punish for a year now, will finally be joined by newest member Shikiin ‘RinRin’ / ‘Cathy’ Catherine. Now, it’s Manomu’s time to shine as the groups official leader.
With a year’s worth of experience working alone, as well as the milestones she has hit along the way, Beyond Senpai wanted to catch up with Manomu and talk about not only her time in Satanic Punish, but the groups latest song, ‘metaverse’, as well as her thoughts on the groups newest member.

It has been almost half a year since Satanic Punish performed in Europe. Is there anything that you learned from that experience that you would like to take with you for the upcoming EU tour?

Before the first overseas performance began, I was worried about whether or not my message would be conveyed during the MC. This was due to the language barrier. However, at the actual live show, even my poor English was understood by the audience and everyone was fully on board with my Japanese incitement, too.
So, I hope to overcome the language barrier and incite the audience in a cool way that only Satanic Punish can do live, so that the fans will be even more excited for the second EU tour!
Ultimately, I want to make everyone even more enthusiastic!

What was your favourite experience during the first EU trip?

I visited the Cathedral on and off with my fans to light candles, and put padlocks with my signature on them on the bridge. This has become a stronger, more precious memory for me because I was able to go to these places with all the fans!
Another happy memory was when I was able to interact with everybody while wearing Lolita fashion alongside Yuffie from GARUDA, who came on the European tour with us.

The new song ‘metaverse’ has a slightly different atmosphere compared to our previous songs, and I think it has new a new drive to its sound.
I think it’s also the perfect song to release alongside the announcement of a new member, as it shows a new side to Satanic Punish as an idol group, all while still maintaining the same intensity as before!
Rather than shaking your head violently to it, I think that this is a song you can listen to while imagining the scenes play out in the lyrics. That way, you can become one with everyone at a live performance.

I think that this will be the first and last song to feature the death voice of legendary member Webshiki and the beautiful, clean voice of our newest member. My hope is that you will all enjoy the unique aspect of having two people who would have never crossed paths come together in a single song!

When I first heard ‘metaverse’ I thought to myself, “Is this song a little quiet compared to the usual Satanic Punish?” But when the vocals were added and the arrangement came in, it was so cool that I wondered if it had always been a part of the set list during live performances. I think it’s a very cool song that has the style of Satanic Punish, while still feeling new and holding a lot of charm!
Mr. Yokoi also gave us gentle and precise direction during the recording process, instructing us on the meaning of the lyrics and how to express them. I believe that this further enhanced the quality of each vocalist!

In fact, a few days after the release of the new song ‘metaverse,’ I heard from several fans that the clean vocals of the new member and I were so similar that they could not tell us apart, or that they thought my parts were the new members, and vice versa. Also, our singing styles and the way we express ourselves is completely different, so the fact that our voices are similar makes me think that we are compatible vocally and have great chemistry as singers!
Up until now, each member of Satanic Punish also had a strong sense of individuality and a distinctive voice, but it seems that right now, we are starting a new chapter where harmony and balance between the two of us will be key! But I assure you that I will continue to create a lot of noice with my death voice, too!

Every live performance is memorable, I think.
In particular, my debut performance on January 22nd, 2023, as well as each member’s graduation performance and my first overseas performance last year were so amazing that it’s impossible to rank them! All I can say is, thank you very much for all of them!
