A Day At London Anime & Gaming Con

Recently, I was able to attend my first convention in over two years. Now, I am not an avid convention goer by any means, nor am I the sort of person prone to finding myself in overly busy places for the pure sake of it. With that said, I will go where the idols go, and if a convention is where they congregate, then by all means, take me there, too.

When I do attend a convention, however, you will typically find me around the stage area, watching a performance or two and waving a penlight. And despite what I say about rarely attending conventions these days, I do love the variety of performances that happen there. Whether it is a full-fledged group or a Kaigai idol just starting out, conventions have become a haven for those who love the art of the performer, and London Anime & Gaming Con is no stranger to hosting some of the best that the UK has to offer when it comes to performers, old and new alike.

If you know me, then you are probably aware that my general interest lies in the generic and cute, over-saturated Orthodox Idol scene. You know, the sugary-sweet bubblegum pop that sets off your diabetes and will probably leave you with a headache, only because more than one member is most likely off-key.

That is my typical brand of J-pop, and I own it. Thing is, I love a variety of groups and various styles of music within the Japanese music scene, and whilst my love for over-the-top cuteness will always be apparent, I do have a soft-spot for another brand of Idol: The creepy and cute kind.

So with that in mind, let’s talk about misola de edison.

Senpai Feature: GET YOUR GENKI

A personal insight into creating an independent music label by Christian Preiss.

I started this project in October 2018 .

Originally I wanted to start it about 10 years earlier but somehow the idea got lost during the years.

I was always interested in music from Japan in all its varieties, Pop, Rock, Funk, Punk, Psych, Folk…whatever. Mostly some not so well known bands, more or less independent ones.

Somehow the music was always a bit better, the band a bit more authentic, the love for what they do a bit deeper.
